Ice Cream Swirl Hat Knitting Pattern

A sweet and simple swirly hat pattern that is perfect to use that precious single skein of crazy hand-dyed yarn. This is a simple hat, great for a beginner, with a slight texture. To get the swirling effect, choose a yarn that has one section of the hank yarn dyed in one color (referred to as "space dyed"). This will pool together in a swirling pattern as you knit the hat.

The Littlest Elf Hat pattern was tested using Hobbii Tivoli DK weight acrylic yarn, though any DK weight yarn can be substituted, just make sure to knit a gauge swatch to verify that you will end up with a newborn sized hat.

Size:
Small, medium, and large adult sizes

Yarn:
approximately 75g of fingering weight yarn, held double, or DK weight yarn held single.

Needles:
US size 4 (3.5mm) and US size 5 (3.75mm) on 16" circular cable, or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:
21 stitches x 34 rounds=4"/10cm on smaller needle, in 2x2 ribbing, unblocked

Long-tail cast-on
Knit
Purl

HOW TO DOWNLOAD A DIGITAL FILE ON ETSY:
Etsy sends an email when you purchase with a download link, though you should be able to access all of your purchased digital downloads at anytime through your Etsy account, just like you can do on Ravelry.
Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your account.
Go to Purchases and reviews.
Next to the order, select Download Files. This goes to the Downloads page for all the files attached to your order.
The way to download your file is through your browser, not through the app. I find it easiest to do on a computer. It would be nice if Etsy made it possible to do through their app. Please let me know if you have any further issues and I will help.
